‘I still see the X’, letterpress-printed lunar calendar designed and drawn by Alec Thibodeau

November 14, 2016

To mark his 10 years of work (2007-2017), Alec Thibodeau has designed and drawn letterpress-printed lunar calendar, chronicling all phases of the moon for 2017.  This admirable design was limited to 1000 prints and it measured 19" x 11.75" (a golden rectangle), comparing to his previous work. ‘I still see the X’ was skillfully printed by Dan Wood and his team at DWRI Letterpress to illuminate artist’s classic layout.
Writing on his website, the artist explained that the 2017 lunar calendar featured completely new drawings and year-specific lunar phase information. Each calendar is printed on French Company’s acid-free 269gsm Pop-Tone Razzle Berry 100# cover paper, blind-debossed with his name and the print shop's name – and hand numbered and signed by him.
This calendar’s lunar phase information is calibrated for any place in the Eastern Time Zone and accurate to witin a day for any place in the Norther Hemisphere.
“The calendar is designed, drawn and printed in Providence, Rhode Island, which is identified as a representative location within the artwork”, the artist said on his website.
