Architect Stéphane Malka was commissioned to transform old buildings in 16th arrondissement of Paris

The building of the 1970s, situated in the middle of the 16th arrondissement of Paris, is being seen too tiny and lack of natural light. With this reason, the co-owners contracted architect Stéphane Malka to optimize their properties.
Resulted from his design, Stéphane Malka did the extension of the structures on the ground floor as well as hanging gardens along with bow-windows, balconies and loggias of variable dimensions.
So that the transformation was adapted to real needs of those inhabitants, this building complex was composed of boxes which were made of bio-sourced wood, wood particles and chips, which lightness could go inside and a great flexibility of implementation on site.
“The ground-floor accommodation stretches towards the inner garden. These extensions allow the inhabitants of the 1st floor to benefit from large private terraces opened to the sky. Thus, each cube allows two levels of extensions, one covered and one open in its top floor. Private and common interstitial terraces are thus generated by default, in negative of the loggias”, he wrote on his website.
