Burnnie ‘Bonnie’ Reiss is considered as one of the commendable artists since her common thought is that materials, community, cultures, experiences, the past and the present are parts of her visual catalog. One of her huge ambition is to map out unusual lives, find folded and forgotten places, build a unique visual history, and combine it all into one.
She was also known as a natural storyteller, time-traveler and she lives in a world filled with magic and imagination.
When she returns home to Los Angeles, she spends her days unwinding what she has uncovered in both her art practice and the classes she teaches.
In brief, she loves turning the old into new; she devoted most of her time in life to garner weathered objects with rich stories.
Obviously, her next project transforms her collection of old or unwanted leather gloves into bright works of art, using symmetry and cosmic imagery to link either the past or present. The gloves were designed with eyes, ears and noses of animals.
Additionally, she also produced large installations and mural walls as you can see on her website.
