The Colombian designer and artist has been working over the past years with simple materials such as wire, cardboard, plastic and paper and turned these things into her cutest artistic production. It is hardly to believe that she could transform these materials into lovely, colorful and actively birds with her inspiration and imagination.
Her thorough practice in sculpture, she has been representing various subjects. One of her most extensive series is her work with birds, insects, fish and plants. These works have been exhibited in her country as well as participating in solo and group shows in Europe, Asia and USA. 
The interest that Herrera has in economic materials in general, is the potential of transformation that may occur with just the implementation of simple techniques and processes based on repetition. Just as the patterns found in nature, her sculptures comprehend massive groups of elements that together compose a major complex system.
