Raw human nature: paintings which were based on real photographs

January 30, 2017

The Colombian artist and designer Marcela Bolívar combines photography, painting, drawing, sculpture and photomanipulation to create truly beautiful fantasy images and illustrations. Working in the digital domain, artist Marcela Bolívar is able to skillfully combine elements from nature, the human figure, objects and textures to create magical dream-like compositions.
Her images are a collection of memories and personal symbols trapped in solitary worlds where raw human nature talks through complex disguises.
“Sometimes I wish I could dedicate my time to animation too, or even film, but I am well aware of the impact a static image with an impending motion has. I like to imagine all the minds seeing it are reconstructing the moments before and after it is captured and that a sense of elation takes place”, she told Apex Magazine.
