Chloe Early has been working in oils on linen and aluminum panel and she has intelligently developed a unique style that is simultaneously lush and raw. The romantic and gritty are illustrated in paintings which tease out a distinctively poetic worldview through the juxtaposition of extremes.
Drawn from historical sources, Early’s meticulously rendered figures evoke both romantic and Renaissance paintings in their allegorical functions, suggesting pleasure or pain, agony or ecstasy.
“She paints bodies among clusters of images such as planes, birds, and carnival rides, yet the representational elements of her paintings dissolve into painterly swaths of colors, dripped and scraped across the compositions”, the artsy read.
“At their core is a sensitivity to the lyrical feelings and themes – love, beauty, innocence and softness – which collide with more worldly symbols of aggression and degradation, such as bullets, bombs, urban refuse and ruins”, she stated on her website.
