Artist Heeseop Yoon freehand traces over the lines of her drawing creating a visual cacophony on the wall

March 23, 2017

The Seoul-born artist Heeseop Yoon is inspired by photographs of everyday objects (jumbled, piled, stacked and often discarded) and she then sketches freehand, without erasing, on the wall with the application of thin strips of black tape. After the correction of mistakes, all of her drawings will result in double or multipole lines, which reflect how her perception has changed over time and make her question initial perception.
Interestingly, her works are based on real spaces with huge messes such as: basements, workshops, storage spaces or other places.
“My work deals with memory and perception within cluttered spaces. I begin by photographing interiors such as basements, workshops, and storage spaces, places where everything is jumbled and time becomes ambiguous without the presence of people”, she stated on her website
