ECLIPSE: A sphere with 6m in diameter was designed and installed in Porto

March 02, 2017

Porto is the second largest city in Portugal and is one of the oldest European centres which was officially pronounced as the Historic Center by Unesco in 1996. To mark the 20th anniversary of this proclamation, artists and architects worked collaboratively in constructing a giant structure called ECLIPSE, which was built only with ventilation ducts Spiro type and the object is the result of undulating lines and empty spaces, stemming from the marriage between these vector elements.
It is also the result of a set of parallel dynamics, sound and light, a collective reflection on the occupation of the city. At night, this body is illuminated by a single point of light, which, like an eclipse, leaves part of the piece in the gloom.
